Although there are strict laws against violence against women in Bangladesh, violence against women is not decreasing, but violence against women in the family and online has increased in recent years. If we look at the period from 2018 to 2022, we can see that 99,638 cases of women abuse have been registered in Bangladesh in the last five years. By type of torture as of 2023 rape - 4360, murder after rape - 450, gang rape - 240, dowry torture and murder - 2,830, kidnapping - 1,870, and others 14.
Violence against women is a deeply entrenched problem with far-reaching consequences. However, it is not insurmountable.
